The pre-conference workshops will introduce key topics and transferable skills courses for doctoral candidates. Including a course for professional development of supervisors and a workshop on the importance of Research Integrity training for early career researchers. The pilot courses were created under the EU project DocEnhance as open education resources and will be available by the end of 2022 to other Higher Education institutions to adapt and integrate them into their existing or future PhD programmes.
Data Stewardship (DocEnhace)
The course on Data stewardship has been developed by the UiT – The Arctic University of Norway. As research data becomes more openly available, data stewardship is a skill in high demand, both within and beyond academia. The Course for doctoral candidates focuses on all the steps of research data management, from finding relevant data to publishing their own dataset. Created by experts in the field, it focuses on deepening skills that are sought-after within both the academic and private sector.

Career Development & Entrepreneurship (DocEnhace)
The course on Career Management and Entrepreneurship has been prepared by the InnoExc GmbH team (Innovation Excellence Hub – a platform for innovators and investors). It is designed for doctoral candidates, focuses on learning how to manage career and develop entrepreneurial skills. It covers a variety of skills from career planning and assessment, leadership and intellectual property rights to teamwork and problem - solving.

Supervision (DocEnhace and PRIDE Network)
The course on Supervision has been prepared by Tampere University in Finland, Matej Bel University in Slovakia, and University of Alcalá in Spain. This course aims to create a forum for discussion and sharing knowledge and experience between junior and senior supervisors and to improve the quality of the supervision practices. It will cover not only leadership and conflict management but also rhetoric and argumentation and stress tolerance.

Research ethics and Integrity
Research integrity training plays an important role for early-career researchers who regularly face ethical dilemmas and questions of integrity during their research. As can be seen in the recent EUA-CDE report on Doctoral education in Europe: current developments and trends, the research ethics and integrity, research methodology and dissertation writing are the top three mandatory components in doctoral skills training. The workshop will focus on the practical issues of research integrity training in doctoral programs and will confront ethics and integrity to the real-world dilemmas and challenges related to career development, research assessment, digitalisation and AI etc.
